Greater Roadrunner Geococcyx californianus
An unfortunate Gopher Snake is on the lunch menu (above)
The young roadrunner shown above was discovered inside
the house in an even standoff with a cat (note the hair in his bill). There
were no injuries on either side. After he was taken outside for release, he
just sat there for several minutes before he realized he could leave, and then
he promptly flew away.
